Public Debate between PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi
A public debate invitation letter was sent on May 9 by former judges Madan B Lokur, Ajit P Shah, and a senior journalist N Ram, which addressed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi. The letter read “that a public debate would set a great precedent, not just educating the public, but also in projecting the true image of a healthy and vibrant democracy, and “on a non-partisan, non-commercial platform” would benefit the citizens.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi agreed to the invite sent to him by saying, “I have discussed your invitation with the Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge. We agree that such a debate will help people understand our respective vision and enable them to make an informed choice. It is also critical to put to rest any unsubstantiated allegations attributed to our respective parties.”
On the other hand, on May 11, BJYM President Surya, on X wrote, “Who is Rahul Gandhi, that PM Modi should debate with him? Rahul Gandhi isn’t even the PM candidate of the Congress Party, let alone the INDI Alliance. Let him first get himself declared as Congress’s PM candidate, state he will take accountability for his party’s defeat, and then invite PM for a debate. Until then, we are ready to depute our BJYM spokespersons to take him on in any debate” – proposing Abhinav Prakash to debate with the opposition party.
