Congress party on Friday revealed its manifesto or ‘Nyay Patra’ for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi, and it’s packed with big promises.
From the nationwide count of people’s social and economic status, ensuring farmers get fair prices for their crops, and getting rid of a scheme called Agnipath, it covered many major issues. Furthermore, it ensured reserving 10% of jobs and school spots for people who don’t have much money.

- Congress pledges to fill around 30 lakh vacant positions across various levels in the central government.
- A national minimum wage of ₹400 per day is guaranteed by the party.
- It plans to adopt the Rajasthan model of cashless insurance, providing coverage of up to ₹25 lakh for universal healthcare.
- Legal guarantees for Minimum Support Price (MSP), as recommended by the Swaminathan Commission, will be provided.
- The party vows to ensure minorities have the freedom to choose their attire, food, language, and personal laws, with encouragement for personal law reforms.
- A nationwide socio-economic and caste Census will be conducted, along with a constitutional amendment to increase the reservation cap for SC, ST, and OBC categories.
- It proposes the abolition of application fees for government exams and posts, along with the writing off of student educational loan debts as of March 15, 2024.
- Legislation will be introduced to recognize civil unions for LGBTQIA+ couples after extensive consultation.
- The INC plans to increase the central government’s pension contributions under the National Social Assistance Programme to ₹1,000 per month.
- 50% of Central Government jobs will be reserved for women from 2025 onwards, according to Rahul Gandhi’s party.
