The joint Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR-UGC-NET) exam, was scheduled to be held between June 25 to June 27, has been postponed by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Exam postponed due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’ and ‘logistics issues’
The NTA postponed the CSIR-UGC-NET examination due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’ and ‘logistic issues’, as per the official announcement made on Friday. The CSIR-UGC-NET Examination June-2024 was supposed to be held between June 25 to June 27, 2024. Nearly two lakh students were set to take the exam this year.

NTA Faces Major Backlash By Students Over Exam Mismanagement
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is an independent body under the Department of Higher Education of India, which is responsible for conducting major national-level entrance examinations such as NEET, CMAT, CUET, JEE MAIN, GPAT, UGC-NET, CSIR-NET. The agency is currently chaired by educationist Pradeep Kumar Joshi, a former chairman of UPSC.
On June 19, NTA announced the cancellation of the UGC-NET examination due to inputs from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Coordination Centre (I4C), pointing to the “compromised integrity” of the examination.
In addition to that, NTA is embroiled in the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, facing several accusations regarding the mismanagement of the examination.
Students are facing numerous challenges and pressures, leasing to a growing distrust in the exam conducting body.

Education Minister Dharmendra PradhanAt a press conference, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said,“The government will form a high-level committee regarding reforms in NTA. The committee will be expected to make recommendations to further improve NTA, its structure, functioning, examination process, transparency and data security protocols. Zero-error testing is our commitment.”
