Throughout the day, Delhi police conducted extensive searches, leading to evacuations and closures of schools as a precautionary measure. Additionally, heightened security measures have been implemented in various areas of Delhi.
As per police reports, all bomb threats have been confirmed as hoaxes thus far. Security measures have been intensified at metro and railway stations, bus stands, and markets. “We’ve heightened security at each station and instructed our staff to monitor any suspicious activities closely,” stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) KPS Malhotra to PTI.
PTI, citing a senior security officer, reported that a general advisory has been issued across the Delhi Metro network, urging CISF personnel to maintain heightened vigilance.
Another officer mentioned that extra police and paramilitary personnel have been stationed in various areas of Delhi, with barricades set up at city borders. “Since 6 am, the Delhi Fire Services have received over 80 bomb threat calls from different schools. We’re currently investigating the situation,” the officer stated.
Possibility Of Russian Domain To Be Used For Those Bomb Threats
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena stated that the police have tracked the origin of the bomb threat emails, which seem to be a hoax.
Reports indicate that a single IP address was utilized to send the hoax email to schools. Although the email address used had a Russian domain, it remains uncertain whether the email originated from there.
Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Mother Mary School in Mayur Vihar (east Delhi), and Delhi Public School in Dwarka were among the initial schools to receive the threat early this morning. Subsequently, nearly 100 other schools also received similar emails, alleging the presence of explosives on their premises.
During one incident at Mother Mary School, an exam was underway when search operations commenced. The school declared an emergency, instructing everyone to evacuate the premises immediately.
