Disney Fans, Cheer up! Moana and Maui back Together For Another Epic Journey

The ‘Moana 2‘ trailer has become Disney Animation Studios‘ most-watched animated movie trailer ever. It has gained a whopping 178 million views within just 24 hours, surpassing the viewership record of top Disney films ‘Inside Out 2‘ and ‘Frozen 2,’ which garnered 157 million and 116 million views respectively.

Moana 2 is a sequel to the animated film Moana released in 2016, directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. Based on Polynesian mythology, the story revolves around a princess of a small island in ancient Polynesia who sets on a daring adventure across the ocean to save her people. During her voyage she meets the shape- shifting Demigod Maui who helps her her quest further. The film did well in the box office, grossed $687 million worldwide and had received two nominations at Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song “How far I’ll go.”

Plot, Cast and Other Details

In the upcoming sequel, Moana goes on for another adventure after receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors. “She must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced,” Disney shared.

Directed by David Derrick Jr. and Dana Ledoux Miller, the film will feature Auliʻi Cravalho returning as the voice of Moana, Dwayne Johnson as the voice of Maui, Temuera Morrison voicing Moana’s overprotective father, Tui, and Nicole Scherzinger voicing Moana’s mother, Sina.

Disney Pictures recently shared a picture of the latest poster of the sequel film on their Instagram handle and fans worldwide expressed love and excitement.

In February, Bob Iger, CEO of Walt Disney Company announced, “Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise,and we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when Moana 2 comes to theaters this November.”
