Filmfare Awards for 2024 have been recently announced and Bollywood couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt dominated the 69th edition of the Filmfare Awards by bagging top honours for their performances in films released last year.
The award ceremony was held in Gujarat where Ranbir Kapoor was named the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for his performance in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial film Animal, whereas, Alia Bhatt grabbed the coveted trophy for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for her performance in Karan Johar’s romantic family drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra was recognised as the Best Director, with his biographical drama 12th Fail being crowned the Best Film in the Filmfare Awards ceremony. On the other hand, Devashish Makhija’s thriller Joram won the Filmfare award for Best Film (Critics’), while Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), Rani Mukerji (Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway), and Shefali Shah (Three Of Us) took home the prestigious Filmfare after being named best actors by the critics.

Fans raged after no award for SRK
Amidst the glamour and ecstasy among the winners of FilmFare Awards and their fans, there has emerged a controversy and outrage on social media after the king of Bollywood, the Shah Rukh Khan was not given even a single award.
Fans argue that he has given the most successful films of Bollywood in the past year of 2023 with his two films, Jawan and Pathan entering the 1000 cr Club.
According to his fans, to not appreciate SRK for reviving Bollywood and bringing people back to theatres, is an injustice, offering a glimpse into the opaque nature of these Award selection procedures.
