Christmas is around the corner, which is celebrated on the day of Jesus Christ Birth. But on Christmas Eve, out of nowhere a hashtag trended all over Twitter which is ‘#Is Jesus God?’ which people were seen debating over the question whether Jesus is really a god or merely a prophet. Because there are a lot of people out there who think that Jesus was like an ordinary man, right?
Birth of Jesus Christ is still a mystery, but what about the Bible Prophecies which already told about Jesus’ birth before he was born. The Bible tells us everything that long before the world began.
In this article we’ve mentioned old testaments and holy scriptures which might help you to find the answer to the question of ‘#Is Jesus God?’
Matthew 1:16 refers to Jesus as the Messiah. Since the name Christ means “Messiah” or “Anointed One,” it is actually used to refer to Jesus as the Messiah whenever someone says “Jesus Christ.” The Messiah is foretold in the Old Testament and revealed as Jesus of Nazareth in the New Testament.
Based on prophecies found in the Old Testament, the Jewish people who looked forward to the Messiah expected Him to be several things. Born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2) of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), the Messiah would be a Hebrew man (Isaiah 9:6), a prophet like Moses (Deuteronomy 18:18), a king (Isaiah 11:1-4), a priest in the order of Melchizedek (Psalm 110:4), and the Son of David (Matthew 22:42) who suffered before entering His glory (Isaiah 53). Jesus satisfies every prerequisite for the messiah.
Jesus met the qualifications for the Messiah because He was born in Bethlehem (Luke 2:4–7) to a virgin (Luke 1:26–27), and He was a Hebrew of the tribe of Judah (Luke 3:30).
To be the Messiah, Jesus also has to be a king. Jesus belonged to the royal tribe of Judah. Upon Jesus’ birth, sages from the East arrived in search of the Jewish King (Matthew 2:1–2). According to what Jesus taught, He will one day occupy a magnificent throne (Matthew 19:28; 25:31). While Jesus’ kingdom is currently not of this world (John 18:36), many in Israel saw Jesus as their long-awaited king and expected Him to establish His rule immediately (Luke 19:11). When Pilate asked Jesus if He was the King of the Jews at the end of His life, Jesus did not defend Himself—instead, He only responded in the affirmative (Mark 15:2).
Know what ‘Quran’ says about the Jesus Christ:
In Islam, he is considered as the Messiah and messenger of Allah, but also a lot of people believe that he was the real God. It is hard to find what is the truth, but here are few Quranic verses which talks about the Jesus
The Quranic verse [Surah Al-Baqarah; 2:253] states that “Allah spoke directly to some, and raised some high in rank. To Jesus, son of Mary, We gave clear proof and supported him with the holy spirit.”
In verses like [Surah Ali-Imran 3:45 and 3:52] states that being a virgin, Mary will give birth to Messiah, Jesus and he will be closest to the god and Jesus will face rejection from his followers. The same Prophecies is also stated in [Isaiah 7:14] and in [Psalm 118:22-23]
After all of these Holy Scriptures it is hard to conclude that Jesus is Messiah because in many other religions, for example in Judaism, Jesus is not recognized as the Messiah or the Son of God. Different religions have their own unique perspectives on Jesus based on their beliefs and teachings. It’s fascinating to learn about the diverse perspectives people have, isn’t it?But still the question remained unanswered that ‘Is Jesus God?’
