Masoud Pezeshkian, according to the IRNA news agency will be sworn in as Iran’s ninth president before Parliament in early August.
“The swearing-in ceremony of the president will be held on August 4 or 5.”
The president-elect will have 15 days to present his cabinet ministers to the parliament for approval.
On Saturday, Masoud Pezeshkian, a reformist candidate and heart surgeon, emerged victorious in Iran’s runoff presidential election, securing 17 million votes and defeating ultra-conservative politician and diplomat Saeed Jalili, who garnered more than 13 million votes.

Before his election as president, Pezeshkian served as a member of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) for multiple terms. He represented Tabriz, a major city in northwestern Iran, which is known for its cultural and historical significance.
The elections took place following the death of Ebrahim Raisi, who was widely regarded as a close confidant and mentee of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a helicopter crash in May. Masoud Pezeshkian has been elected as the new president of Iran in the elections held on July 5.

Voters Turnout in Elections: Moderate
The voter turnout for this election was 49.8 percent. Masoud Pezeshkian, in his campaign, avoided promising radical changes to Iran’s Shite theocracy. He consistently acknowledged Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the ultimate authority on all state matters.
While campaigning, he said “I will do everything possible to look at those who were not seen by the powerful and whose voices are not heard. We will make poverty, discrimination, war, lies and corruption disappear from this country.”
Iran-India Bilateral Relations
Under the elected leader presidency, the historically strong economic ties between India and Iran expected to deepen more. The Chabahar Port will remain a focal point for India-Iran cooperation. The port serves as a major transit point for trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia, bypassing Pakistan. India has committed $120 million for the development of the Shahid-Beheshti Port terminal and has extended a $250 million credit line for infrastructure projects in Iran.
In addition to that, another significant platform for cooperation between India and Iran is the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), a multi-modal transportation route which connects India to Russia via Iran strengthening regional connectivity and fostering trade and bilateral relations.
