Mithun Chakraborty, an actor-turned-politician, has been diagnosed with an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain, according to a statement from a private hospital where he was admitted on Saturday morning.
Chakraborty complained of terrible chest pain yesterday morning and was admitted to the Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals Emergency Department in Kolkata at approximately 9:40 a.m.The 73-year-old actor had various tests done, including an MRI. The veteran actor experienced problems with his right hand movement and monir speech.Chakraborty was transferred from the ICU to a cabin for further care.
Mithun Chakraborty diagnosed with Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident
The National Award-winning actor has been diagnosed with an ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain, the hospital said in an official statement.
According to the hospital, the actor is undergoing additional evaluation by a group of medical professionals that includes a gastroenterologist, cardiologist, and neuro-physician.
Actor Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73), who has won numerous national awards, was admitted to Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals’ emergency room in Kolkata at approximately 9.40 am due to complaints of weakness in his right upper and lower limbs. A brain MRI and other necessary laboratory and radiological tests were performed. An ischemic cerebrovascular accident (stroke) of the brain has been diagnosed in him. He’s conscious, alert, and has been eating soft food up to this point. A group of medical professionals, including a cardiologist, gastroenterologist, and neuro-physician, are conducting additional evaluations on Shri Chakraborty, according to the hospital’s official statement.
What is Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident?
Hemorrhagic stroke and ischemic stroke are the two most common forms of stroke. A majority of strokes are caused by ischemia. When blood clots or other foreign objects obstruct the blood vessels leading to the brain, an ischemic stroke happens.
Blockages in blood vessels can also result from plaque, which is fatty deposits that accumulate there.However, a hemorrhagic stroke occurs when a cerebral artery bursts or leaks blood (breaks open). The blood leak damages brain cells by applying excessive pressure to them.
