To stay healthy and fit regular exercise is very necessary like walking, jogging, swimming, dancing or yoga as it can surely help in improving mood & reducing stress by releasing endorphins.
Healthy diet
Diet is the most essential part of anyone’s life and when it comes to PCOS, one should follow a diet which is low in carbohydrates and high in whole foods, plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and complex carbohydrates as this can help to reduce stress and anxiety and can also cure the hormonal imbalance in women. Avoiding alcohol, smoking, and excess caffeine improves overall health.
Meditation and mindfulness
Women suffering from PCOS also incorporate meditation and yoga in their daily routines to promote relaxation and reduce stress levels. Engaging in hobbies helps one relax and unwind.
Proper sleep pattern
Adequate sleep is very important for those suffering from PCOS. At least 6-8 hours of sleep is a must to manage your stress levels and keep yourself healthy and energetic. Establish a regular sleep routine and create a comfortable sleep environment.
Communication and support
Stress and anxiety are becoming quite prominent nowadays and one should not hesitate to seek someone’s support to manage it. One should prefer connecting with their friends, family or support groups or can also take help from mental health professionals, such as therapists or counsellors who can help them develop coping strategies and provide emotional support.
According to Sanchita Agrawal, Licensed Clinical Psychologist at DocVita, “The physical changes accompanying PCOS, such as weight gain and excessive body hair, can deeply influence the mental well-being of the individual. One may also develop a negative perception of their body, contributing to anxiety and impacting lifestyle choices. They will start to avoid going out, stop wearing certain clothes, and even restrict their social life. All these factors clubbed together can add to the stress.”
