The first debate of the 2024 election cycle between Donald Trump and Joe Biden will take place live on the Cable News Network (CNN) in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 27th at 9:00 p.m. It will run for 90 minutes with only two commercial breaks.The second debate is scheduled for September on ABC News.
The live debate event will be televised on CNN International, CNN en Español, CNN Max, and the CNN website. It will be moderated by CNN anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
Who is Jake Tapper and Dana Bash?
Jake Tapper, the lead Washington anchor for CNN, will be one of the moderators. He is one of the most influential media personalities, who currently hosts the weekday news show “The Lead With Jake Tapper” and co-hosts the Sunday morning program “State of the Union.” Tapper has moderated the GOP debate back in 2015 and the Democratic debate in 2020 between Biden and Bernie Sanders.
Dana Bash is the chief political correspondent for CNN and the host of “Inside Politics” as well as the co-anchor of “State of the Union” on CNN. She has co-authored the book named “America’s Deadliest Election: The Cautionary Tale of the Most Violent Election in American History”, which covers the election of 1872. She is a highly respected journalist within the network.

Rules of the Presidential Debate
During the debate there will be no studio audience present during this debate. Candidates’ microphones will be muted when they’re not speaking, and they are barred from interacting with their staff during the two commercial breaks. Each candidate will have a pen, paper, and a water bottle, but no props or pre-written notes are allowed.
Both candidates will stand during the debate. The two candidates flipped a coin on Thursday to determine their podium position and the order of their closing statements. The Biden campaign picked tails, so President Biden will appear at the podium on the right hand side of the screen with Trump to his left. Former President Trump will get the closing, as he opted for Biden to deliver his closing statement first.
ABC will host the next presidential debate on September 10, moderated by David Muir, the anchor of ABC World News Tonight, and Linsey Davis, the anchor of the Sunday edition of World News Tonight.The 2024 Presidential Election is set to be held on November 5, 2024.
