Apple TV+ released a trailer on July 7 for ‘F1,’ featuring Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a retired driver who returns to Formula 1 to train a rookie driver Damson Idris. The film, directed by acclaimed American filmmaker Joseph Kosinski, features a star-studded cast including Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.
‘F1‘ will debut in theaters worldwide beginning June 25, 2025, and in North America on June 27, 2025.
Filmed at real Formula One races, the film promises authentic racing scenes, made in collaboration with Formula 1 and looks set to immerse viewers in the exhilarating world of racing. The film’s shooting took place in real F1 events such as the last year’s British Grand Prix, and the Rolex 24 at Daytona sportscar race
Brad Pitt described the film, saying, “The vibe is amazing, to get to be part of it and tell our story. The teams have opened their doors to us. I play a guy who raced in the 1990s who has a horrible crash and disappears, to race in other disciplines. His friend, played by Javier Bardem, the team owner, contacts him. They’re last in the grid, they haven’t scored a point. But they have a young phenom, played by Damson Idris, and they bring me in as kind of a hail mary. You’ve never seen speed, you’ve never seen the G-forces like this, the footage is really, really exciting.”

The film also includes the legendary Formula One multi-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton as a consultant. The screenplay is co-written by Joseph Kosinski and Ehren Kruger, both of whom were Oscar-nominated for their work on Top Gun: Maverick. ‘F1‘ is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment, and Dawn Apollo Films. Hans Zimmer has composed the music for the film.
In the 1 minute and 46 seconds trailer, Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes is seen saying, “Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston, and now McLaren all have speed on the straights. Our shot is battling it in the turns.”
When questioned about safety, he responds with a quintessential action hero one-liner: “Who said anything about safety?“
Set to the pulsating beats of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You,’ the teaser features exhilarating POV racing sequences that hints at an adrenaline-pumped experience for the viewers.
According to the makers, the film is made with a $300 million budget.
