The trailer of Pa Ranjith’s much-awaited period film ‘Thangalaan’ released on Wednesday. Chiyaan Vikram starrer, the film is penned by Pa Ranjith and is based on the British era, it circles the struggles of a tribe fighting the colonial forces to protect their rights, land, water, and gold.
Plot Details:
The film is based on the original story of Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Karnataka which was discovered by the Britishers two hundred years ago. Chiyaan Vikram portrays the role of the fearless tribal leader, who is up against the British in their plot to seize his tribe’s land for gold mining.

Pa Ranjith is an Indian film director, screenwriter and film producer who is known for his films including Kaala (2018), Kabali (2016), and Madras (2014). Pa Ranjith is also the founder of Neelam Productions, which focuses on promoting socially relevant cinema. Co-produced by Studio Green, Neelam Productions and Jio Studios, the music of the film is composed by GV Prakash. The ensemble cast features Chiyaan Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohannan, Pasupathi, Muthukumar, Hari Krishnan, Preethi, Arjun Prabhakaran, and Hollywood actor Daniel Goldragon.

“I am surprised by the level of effort that Vikram has put in for this movie. He has given his heart and soul and done everything possible to make Ranjith’s vision come true. I was really shocked after watching it,” said producer Gnanavel Raja.
‘Thangalaan‘ is Vikram’s 61st film as a lead actor and with the most expensive budget.

Release Date of Thangalaan
The film is slated to release in theatres on August 15, in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
