SRK recently got the title of CNN News 18 ‘Indian Of The Year 2023.’ Last year, Shah Rukh Khan experienced the tremendous success of two blockbusters ‘Pathan’ and ‘Jawan.’ And the last release of 2023, SRK’s ‘Dunki’ also joins the group of blockbusters lately. Finding a way to a historic high, the actor garnered more than 8 crore viewers in a single year.
The public polling based award, SRK got more than 1.5 lakh votes, demonstrating his popularity and craze among fans. The award was presented by Justice Indu Malhotra and Anju Bobby George.
During the award ceremony, SRK highlighted that, this time he is taking the award home only ‘for his family’ and refused to share it with anyone. Actor also thanked his fans for constantly supporting and showing his love towards him.

SRK says “I’m the Indian for ages”
During his motivational speech, the actor stated that he is not just the Indian of the Year for 2023, but that he has always been and always will be the Indian of the year. SRK was clearly moved and said, “I’d like to say something brash,” even though his prepared speech had been carefully reviewed several times to ensure no unintentional remarks were made.
SRK said “I should have kept my speech written because it gets reviewed three or four times to make sure I don’t say something dumb and wrong and get picked on for it.”
He continued “However, I still feel compelled to make this extremely bold statement. I feel like I’ve been the Indian for all the years I’ve lived and I will continue to be Indian for all the years to come, not just the Indian of the Year. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce myself as the Indian for all ages.”
SRK expressed his gratitude and talked about his struggle
In his acceptance speech, Shah Rukh Khan expressed his profound gratitude to his supporters. He conveyed gratitude to everyone in attendance as well as those watching on television. SRK also mentioned that, though some of his films may not have struck a chord with everyone, he recognized the large audiences that flocked to his theatres year-round to watch them, and he felt that, at their core, they were supporting him and his family.

Dunki is set to be in Oscar nomination:
After getting the title of ‘Indian of the year,’ another exciting news for Shah Rukh fans is that Dunki is prepared to submit nominations for the 96th Academy Awards.
According to the most recent media report in Box Office Worldwide, Dunki’s creators intend to submit it for an Oscar in 2024 despite the wide range of reactions. Despite the lack of an official announcement to that effect.
If the reports prove to be accurate, however, this will be SRK’s third film to receive an Oscar nomination. The movie Swades, starring Shah Rukh, was nominated for a prestigious award back in 2004. Paheli was nominated for an Oscar later in 2005 for another film.
On December 21, 2023, Dunki was released and became immediately successful among the public. The film earned decently at the box office. Twenty days after its release, the film has reportedly made over 219.27 crore in net domestic sales. However, the movie is getting closer to making Rs 500 crore worldwide.
