The recent release of Ayushmann Khurana, ‘DreamGirl-2’, also turned out to be the biggest opener at the Box Office, but the ending of the film is somewhat subtle and absurd and failed to capture the attention of the audience. Everyone’s anticipation regarding DreamGirl-2 was quite high, but the film couldn’t touch the benchmark that the 2019 release DreamGirl has set.
DreamGirl-2 also became the actor’s biggest opener and one of his most successful films. But the end of the film left everyone with a mixed kind of feeling. It was really unexpected for an actor like Ayushmann to play such an insincere role, which made his fans quite upset, and he also received criticism for not doing justice to his role.
Whereas the original DreamGirl film of 2019 was a superhit one with laughter, emotions, and instances of offence. This film grabbed everyone’s attention to the core and was a blockbuster hit. But DreamGirl 2 had fallen short of a fundamental benchmark in visual storytelling – thus, unable to make its audience feel.
The disappointment was looming above his fans as a film starring Ayushmann Khurana would be so farcical and insincere. He has set up his standards so high in Bollywood, whether the balding Bala or Mudit Sharma grappling with erectile dysfunction in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Ayushmann had carved out all his characters in a unique and remarkable manner.
DreamGirl-2 failed to impress the audience, and it overshadowed the beautiful art of storytelling with some subtle scripts that didn’t capture popularity. This film leaned heavily on Ayushmann’s past successes but failed to deliver the emotion and laughter that his audience and fans expected the most from his work. In this film, we can see that religious harmony, homosexuality, and senior romance are casually mentioned just for the sake of conforming to the Ayushmann Khurrana genre of established norms. This had completely ruined the originality of his film, thereby upsetting his audience and fans.
Witnessing legendary actors of Bollywood and frequent collaborators with Ayushmann, like Seema Pahwa, Annu Kapoor, Vijay Raaz, Asrani, Paresh Rawal, and Rajpal Yadav, wasted on a disjointed script was nothing short of painful.
