Ford got emotional when he took the stage midway to accept his Career Achievement Award. He got honoured for his work which includes some biggest Blockbuster hits of the history like playing ‘Han Solo’ in ‘StarWars’ and archaeologist Indiana Jones
Although Ford was already called out by Critics Choice Awards host Chelsea Handler in her monologue for being one of her celebrity crushes, the award was given to Ford by “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” director James Mangold.
“Ford is multitude star”, said James Mangold
James Mangold addressed Harrison Ford as the “Largest star known in the Universe.” He further praised Ford by calling him “A star with multitudes, who warmed our lives.”
Mangold then listed off more than a dozen of the actor’s biggest movies — from ‘American Graffiti’ and ‘Apocalypse Now,’ to ‘Witness’ and ‘The Fugitive,’as well as ‘Working Girl’ and ‘Blade Runner.’
Then, then director joked, “The fact that I spit out that incredible, enviable list of films and performances without even mentioning ‘Star Wars.'” “Harrison’s creative output is astounding. It never goes out of style. It’s real, intensely felt, sensitive and yet manly, frequently poignant and often hilarious. His work has garnered immense popularity and critical acclaim, showcasing the unique voice of an exceptional artist.”
Following the performance of a montage of Harrison Ford’s biggest hits for the audience, the super star appeared somewhat disheveled as he embraced his wife Calista Flockhart and made his way to the platform, gliding through the room filled with A-list celebrities cheering him on.
“First and foremost, I’m really excited to be here and see what our business is turning into,” Harrison said as he took the microphone. “And all of the talented people who are getting opportunities that would not have been available to me in the early stages of my career.” That makes me extremely happy.”
Looking back own career, Ford said, he is here because of a combination of luck and the work of wonderful directors, writers and filmmakers. He felt enormously lucky that he had worked with them.
Ford got emotional:
Actor expressed his gratitude to Flockhart, saying, “She supports me when I need a lot of support—and I need a lot of support,” which made the moment seem even more emotional. Many of his co-stars were seated in the room as he saluted them. All of the excellent actors have my gratitude. With a cut to his “Indiana Jones” co-star Ke Huy Quan in the audience, Ford remarked, “I’ve worked with and I’m deeply happy to have had the opportunities that I’ve had and I’m grateful.”
“I won’t take any more of your time,” Ford said as he hurriedly concluded his remarks, appearing shy about all the attention. But it seemed like they would listen for as long as he would have liked based on their whoops, cheers, and applause.
