After a 28-year gap, India will host the 71st Miss World pageant, which will be broadcast live and globally via streaming services.
The official page of Miss World took to X and wrote, Chairman of Miss World, Julia Morley CBE stated, “Excitement fills the air as we proudly announce India as the host country for Miss World. A celebration of beauty, diversity, and empowerment awaits. Get ready for a spectacular journey! #MissWorldIndia #BeautyWithAPurpose.”
When India last hosted Miss World pageant:
The pageant was last held in Bengaluru in 1996. In 1966, Reita Faria Powell became the first female Indian winner of the Miss World title.
Diana Hayden won the title in 1997, but Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won the Miss World title in 1994. In 1999, Yukta Mookhey became the fourth Miss World from India, and in 2000, Priyanka Chopra Jonas emerged victorious. In 2017, Manushi Chhillar won the title of Miss World.
Locations and Dates of events:
Karolina Bielawska of Poland was the last winner and will crown the next Miss World at the end of the event.
This year’s locations for the event are the stunning Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, and the magnificent G-20 site. The event runs from February 18 to March 9.
The India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) will host “The Opening Ceremony” and “India Welcomes the World Gala” at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi on February 20. The Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai will host the 71st Miss World global finale on March 9.
“Returning to India, a country that I adore, and bringing 120 National champions to experience the beauty of this nation is a tremendous honour,” said Julia Evelyn Morley CBE, Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization, in a statement. Miss World is a month-long festival that honours the accomplishments of women, not just one event. India will be showcased to the world and the world will be brought to India.”
Founded in 1951, Miss World claims to be more than just a beauty pageant, adopting a new philosophy that emphasises the intelligence and capacity to use humanitarian service to bring about positive change.
According to Munish Gupta, advisor to the Miss World Organization in India, “Miss World will showcase India’s rich tapestry of culture, traditions, heritage, arts and crafts, textiles, cuisine, tourism, and much more to a massive global audience.”

The event’s main competitions are the World Top Designer Award and Miss World Top Model – Mumbai, the Continental Beauty With A Purpose Challenge – Plenary Hall, Bharat Mandapam – New Delhi on February 21; the Miss World Red Carpet Special at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai; the Head To Head Challenge Final at The Summit Room, Bharat Mandapam – New Delhi on February 23; and the Miss World Sports Challenge – New Delhi, Miss World Talent Final, and the Multi-Media Challenge in Mumbai.
The 71st Miss World Final is being organized by Endemol Shine India. “Securing the television production mandate for the 71st Miss World finale is a testament to our leadership and excellence in event production,” said Rishi Negi, Group COO of Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India in a statement.
The 71st Miss World Final will be broadcast live from Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre on March 9 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
