A few months ago, Apple unveiled the newest model of the iPhone, the 15. Later this year, the business is anticipated to unveil the lineup of the upcoming iPhone 16 models. The Cupertino, California-based tech powerhouse is rumoured to be planning to add a new Capture button to the latest model.
It is likely that you will use this button to take pictures and videos, as its name implies. The new button will be used for taking videos, as Mark Gurman of Bloomberg confirmed last month. Some information regarding the features and gestures that the Capture Button will support has now been released in a new report.
iPhone 16 Capture button: Different functions and gestures
As per a report published in The Information, the Capture button—which is anticipated to be included with the iPhone 16 lineup—is anticipated to be mechanical rather than capacitive.
When holding the phone horizontally, the button is supposed to be just below the Power button and easily accessible with the finger.
Additionally, according to the report, Apple thinks the new button will be a key selling feature for the iPhone 16 series. It also adds that the company is launching this button to promote the phone as a camera substitute for taking horizontal video.
The report claims that Apple has not finalised the iPhone 16’s design. Therefore, in the days to come, the button’s appearance and functionality could change.
iPhone 16 release date:
Every year in September, at an event, the iPhone lineup is revealed. The phones typically ship a week or two later. However, due to supply chain constraints, there have been instances where a specific model or variant will ship in October.
Usually, the Apple event takes place on the second Tuesday of September, which falls on September 12 this year. It is therefore anticipated that the new flagship will be unveiled on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, with preorders probably opening on Friday, September 13. At least some models are expected to ship on September 20.
