What is Vada Pav?
Vada pav is street food, popular in Maharashtra and originated in Mumbai. It is a simple dish made of a crispy potato patty (vada) tucked inside a pav or a soft bun. The flavors of the Vada pav lie in the chutneys which are spicy, tangy, and creamy sauces, adding magic to every bite.
Vada pav is an affordable snack enjoyed by people of all ages in India. As per Taste Atlas, Vada Pav started with a street seller named Ashok Vaidya. In the 1960s and 1970s, he sold it near the Dadar train station in Mumbai and wanted it to be a cheap meal for people.
Its popularity increased when Shiv Sena (Political party in Maharashtra) started to promote Vada pav as a ideal working class snack.
