Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, were arrested by Romanian police on Tuesday. They are produced in a Bucharest court over the UK sex offense charges (rape and human trafficking allegations).
Controversial British American influencer, Andrew Tate and his brother were taken into custody on Monday at their home near the capital Bucharest.
Charges against Andrew Tate
As per the Romanian authority’s statement, the two European arrest warrants against Andrew and his brother were issued by UK judicial authorities for committing sexual offenses and exploitation of persons on the territory of the UK.
The charges leading to arrest date back to the years between 2012 and 2015 and the reason for reopening of the case is unclear. The court in the evening is to decide regarding the extension of their detention, as per Bucharest’s appeal.
Andrew Tate Rejects the Allegations
During the court hearing, Tate rejected the allegations brought against him and called them “sloppy” and “over ten years old”. He added that he and his brother do not want to be extradited.
Tate’s lawyer Eugen Viclineac claimed the warrants were unacceptable because Andrew and his brother were awaiting trial in Romania in separate charges.
Women’s Allegations against Andrew Tate
In June 2023, four women’s lawyers treated Tate with a lawsuit in a British court over allegations of sexual offense.
The women in their late twenties and early thirties accused Tate of sexual assault and said that the offense took place in the 2010s when Tate was based in Britain. The UK-based law firm, McCue Jury and Partners, representing four women, alleged Tate of “violent rape, serious physical assault, and controlling and coercive behavior”.
Who is Andrew Tate?
Andrew Tate is a social media influencer, famously known for his misogynist views, he gained popularity after appearing in the British reality show “Big Brother” in 2016 and got expelled after a video surfaced of him hitting with a belt. He described it as consensual by both parties.
He later gained millions of followers, especially among young men, and promoted misogynist ideas like men are victims of feminism and women belong to men and require men’s guidance.
