Instagram users can now create a private section on their profile to share personal content with only their closest friends thanks to a new feature called ‘Flipside’,which is currently being tested. This feature is similar to the idea of ‘Finsta,’ which allows users to manage a more private account that is kept separate from their primary public profile.
What is Flipside?
With the Flipside feature, users can swiftly generate a private space known as ‘Finsta.’ It provides a more private space for sharing private content with select friends.
How does it work?
Alessandro Paluzzi, a reverse engineer, discovered Flipside, which allows users to have a separate name, bio, and profile picture for their private side. Flipside users have the ability to control who can view their content, and they can even choose to start over by removing everyone.’
How can one access it?
Users only need to swipe down on the main profile or tap a button to access someone’s Flipside. Users can now share content more carefully in this classified space.
More privacy with Instagram’s new feature
It intends to give users an editable profile that isn’t connected to their public one. Users are incharge of who can view the content they share on Flipside, and the feature is intended to give users and their close friends a more private sharing experience.
Enhanced version of ‘Close Friends’
‘Close Friends’ was extended by Instagram in November 2023, enabling users to share private stories in the main feed. Flipside seems to develop this idea further by giving these particular posts their own section on the user’s profile, which could provide a more private and arranged sharing space.
When users will able to use it?
Instagram has not yet confirmed the feature’s official launch date, and testing is still ongoing. In the next few days, as Instagram improves and completes this new feature to the platform, users might notice a broader rollout.
