Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift made the 66th Grammy Awards a memorable evening by demonstrating their respect and admiration for one another.
Rumours of a rivalry between the two pop sensations—who are both nominated for numerous awards—were refuted by their support of one another throughout the ceremony.
Olivia Rodrigo and Swift stand for each other
Taylor Swift, who has been an outspoken admirer of Olivia Rodrigo’s music, was observed getting up, getting down, and belting out her hit song “Vampire” as Olivia Rodrigo performed it. Rodrigo, who has named Swift as one of her main inspirations, cheerfully applauded in return when Swift took home the Best Pop Vocal Album Grammy.
During her acceptance speech, Swift also revealed a new album, which Rodrigo later praised on social media.
Rumours about Swift and Rodrigo’s cold war
The rumours of a potential split between the two singers began when Rodrigo included Swift and Jack Antonoff as co-writers on the song “Deja Vu,” which was featured on her self-titled debut album. A few fans questioned whether this indicated a creative or legal dispute. Nonetheless, Rodrigo has consistently refuted rumours of animosity toward Swift and clarified that the credit was given as a token of gratitude for serving as an inspiration to Swift.
“I don’t beef with anyone,” Rodrigo said in a Rolling Stone cover story in September 2023.
“I’m very chill. I keep to myself. I have my four friends and my mom, and that’s really the only people I talk to, ever. There’s nothing to say. There’s so many Twitter conspiracy theories. I only look at alien-conspiracy theories.”
Taylor Swift won ‘Album Of The Year’ award
At the Grammy Awards, Swift created history by taking home her record-breaking 14th trophy, which included her fourth Album of the Year honour. Legends such as Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, and Paul Simon—all three-time winners in the same category—were won by her. Swift won her 13th Grammy with her most recent album, Midnights, which also took home the Best Pop Vocal Album trophy.
The legendary Celine Dion took the stage to a standing ovation from the crowd as she presented the Album of the Year award. Swift thanked her fans and collaborators and acknowledged Dion as an inspiration to her and many other artists.
